"Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation." -Psalms 95:1
Music is one of the greatest gifts from our Lord, and it is quintessential to worship and prayer. Many passages in Scripture contain liberated peoples bursting into song, verses written for the purpose of being sung, and even references of Christ himself singing hymns with his disciples. St. Andrew Presbyterian Church invites you to make a joyful noise!
What does music ministry entail?
St. Andrew's music ministry consists of two separate groups:
The first is a traditional church choir, which sings at regular Sunday services as well as special services. The choir also performs an annual Christmas Cantata each holiday season. The second group is a worship band, which performs on the last Sunday of each month. These services are contemporary style and include songs from a variety of popular Christian artists of the modern day.
What is the rehearsal schedule?
The church choir rehearses each Wednesday evening from 6:30pm to 8pm. Exceptions are the Wednesdays before a contemporary service. We also meet a half hour prior to each service to warm up together and say a prayer over the music and the church itself. Worship band rehearses only once per month, on the Wednesday evening before contemporary service. Similar to choir rehearsals, we meet from 6:30pm to 8pm, and then warm up a half hour before church on Sunday.
How talented do I need to be to join?
ALL are welcome to take part in the music ministry - no matter the age, experience, or skill level. Music rehearsals are geared toward cultivating musicianship in all present, no matter where they may be on their musical journey. If you are interested in joining the worship band, instrumental skills are greatly appreciated, but more voices are welcomed as well.
